Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Flight Attendant Manager is responsible for the professional standards of the cabin crews under their authority. The Flight Attendant Manager will effectively train and develop personnel within their department and continuously manage, lead and coach flight attendants. The Flight Attendant Manager will be responsible for maintaining training records, programs and applicable manuals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible to ensure that all programs and manuals developed meet Transport Canada Regulations and Standards
- Facilitate the delivery of training programs and lesson plans accurately in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Must have a strong understanding of the Flight Attendant position, the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR’s), the Commercial Air Service Standards (CASS), the Transport Canada Flight Attendant Manual Standards, and the Transport Canada Flight Attendant Training Standards
- Action and distribute accident, incident and other occurrence reports

- Schedule in house and outsources training
- Supervise and develop monthly schedules for Flight Attendants

- Responsible for hiring, termination and performance management of staff which includes timely completion of probationary and yearly performance assessments according to company policy

Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ previous experience as a Flight Attendant or Flight Attendant Manager
- Previous supervisory/management experience is an asset
- Previous instructing experience is an asset
- Proven experience within the industry and a sound knowledge of all applicable regulations
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Must hold a current valid passport
- Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
- Demonstrate to Transport Canada and Wasaya Airways that you have the ability to fulfil the responsibilities of the position
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Ensure that the department is adequately staffed and that those staff are adequately trained in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation, leading by example the professional standards of the cabin crews under their authority
- Issue directives and notices to the flight attendants as required
- Action and distribute accident, incident, and other occurrence reports
- Process and action any cabin crew reports
- Supervise Flight Attendants
- Train flight attendants in accordance with the approved training program
- Assure that a current and approve Flight Attendant Manual is in place
- Assure that a current and approved Flight Attendant Training program is in place
- Maintain flight attendant training records
- Liaise with other company departments
- Development of safety feature cards
- Accept and complete other duties as assigned
- In their absence, all responsibilities for duties shall be delegated to another qualified individual, except that the knowledge requirements detailed under flight attendant manager qualifications may be demonstrated to the air operator rather than the Minister
- Assist and step in for department as required
Assets:
- Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway
Condition of Employment:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs: repetitively
- Hazards associated with trade
- Physically able to perform all listed job duties
- Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
- Perform administrative office duties as needed in support of operational requirements
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to travel for extended periods
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
- The Flight Attendant Manager shall fly a minimum of two scheduled days per month or as operationally required
