Job Description

The Specialist, Cabin Standards and Communication, maintains an in-depth knowledge of regulatory and corporate requirements for cabin crew and develops standard policies and procedures to ensure and maintain compliance. The incumbent is responsible for documenting and maintaining cabin crew manuals and for drafting and issuing related cabin crew communications.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with stakeholders, develop flight attendant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures meet regulatory and corporate requirements and objectives.
  • Regularly review and update the Flight Attendant Manual, Cabin Standards Manual, announcements, training programs, etc., with respect to flight attendant policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with other departments or with regulators regarding cabin policy/procedure changes or issues.
  • Respond to cabin safety questions on cabin policies and procedures.
  • Research and plan for regulatory changes and projects applicable to cabin standards.
  • Develop regulatory compliance tables and draft submissions for regulatory approval.
  • Monitor recurring flight attendant policy/procedure issues, conduct investigations and ensure follow-up/corrective action; develop or edit work tools based on findings.
  • Draft written communications and notices for flight attendants, as required.
  • Conduct regular in-flight or ground inspections to assess the quality of procedures and equipment.
  • Perform any other duties related to cabin standards and training. 

Qualifications

  • Bilingualism (French/English): excellent writing and editing skills
  • University diploma in a related field or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of Transport Canada procedures and regulations
  • At least three years’ experience in communications or equivalent
  • Previous flight attendant experience
  • Successful completion of initial flight attendant training
  • Knowledge and qualifications to be maintained at all times
  • Strong ability to interpret policies, guidelines and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Sharp attention to detail and strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Diplomacy, autonomy and resourcefulness.

Additional Information

The position can be based in Toronto or Montreal.

The position requires travel between Toronto and Montreal, and telework is in hybrid mode.
