Flair is actively recruiting permanent, full-time In-Flight Directors (IFD) to work at one of our bases, located in Vancouver (YVR), BC, Abbotsford (YXX), BC, Edmonton (YEG), AB, Calgary (YYC), AB, Kitchener (YKF), ON, Toronto (YYZ), ON, and Ottawa (YOW), ON.

Primary Job Functions:

The In-Flight Director is responsible for:

  • The In-Flight Director (IFD) is responsible to the Captain for duties concerning passengers' safety and comfort as prescribed in the FAM, in addition to the passengers' service-related duties as required by the Director, In-Flight Services.
  • Obtain necessary flight information regarding destination, scheduled departure times, forecasted delays, special passenger handling requirements, abnormal weather conditions, and relay these to the Flight Attendants
  • Conduct a pre-flight briefing, which includes a review of the flight information and the assurance that Flight Attendants are knowledgeable in the required standards and emergency procedures.
  • Be responsible for the efficient organization of all cabin services in accordance with the plan of action established for each flight. Ensure the most effective use of Flight Attendant skills and equipment/supplies.
  • Carry out other duties as may be required by the Captain in matters concerning passenger safety and passenger relations.
  •  Ensure that all necessary documentation is accurately completed and submitted at the termination of the flight assignment
  •  Assume responsibility of the Flight Attendants while on assignments away from base.
  •  As required by the Director, In-Flight Services, carry out any other duties relating to the administration of the Flight Attendants.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience as a flight attendant is preferred
  • Three (3) to four (4) years of experience working with the public in a customer service role is required
  • Completion of post-secondary education or technical training in aviation (flight attendant training) is preferred, however, a combination of training and experience will be considered
  • Previous work experience as an In-Charge Flight Attendant is considered an asset
  • Proven leadership skills from prior work experience
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent process analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate a safety-first mindset, as the IFD is the safety leader onboard
  • Must successfully pass Initial Flight Attendant Training and maintain qualifications in order to operate as an IFD
  • A second language, preferably French, or Spanish, would be an asset
  • Certificates such as First Aid/CPR, Food Safe, and WHMIS would be an asset

 

Required Competencies:

  • Oral communications; i.e. Making announcements to the passengers over the public address system and listening to the captain's announcements to passengers and crew.
  • Problem-Solving; i.e. Dealing with passengers who are scared, unhappy, loud, aggressive, inebriated, or ill. Use good intervention skills to cope with a particular situation.
  • Decision Making; i.e. Deciding how to handle unruly passengers. Make decisions related to the service of alcohol on-board the aircraft. 
  • Numeracy; i.e. Accepting payments for services and duty-free sales and may make a change in a number of foreign currencies.

Number of Positions: 60+

Hours: Minimum monthly guarantee of 80 flying credits, and eligible for overtime after 85 hours

Vacation: Two weeks of paid vacation in addition to ten annual statutory holidays 

Bases Available: Vancouver (YVR), BC, Abbotsford (YXX), BC, Edmonton (YEG), AB, Calgary (YYC) AB, Kitchener (YKF), ON, Toronto (YYZ), ON, and Ottawa (YOW), ON.
