Job Title:  Senior Manager, Inflight Standards and Training

Department: Inflight Operations

Location:  Corporate Office located in Vancouver, BC (YVR), Calgary, AB (YYC), Edmonton, AB (YEG), or Toronto, ON (YYZ)

Work Arrangement:  The Senior Manager, Inflight Standards and Training works in a hybrid environment, with the ability to work remotely and from one of the Corporate Office.   Occasional travel will be necessary to support meetings and training initiatives, allowing for a well-rounded work experience.

 Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Inflight Standards and Training plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and professionalism of our cabin crews and will be responsible for the execution and implementation of regulatory matters within our airline, requiring a deep understanding of aviation regulations and standards and will be accountable for the following duties:

 

  • Know and understand the contents of the air operator's operations manual, air operator certificate, and operations specifications as are necessary for the performance of the assigned duties;
  • Know and understand provisions of the Aeronautics Act, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards, as are necessary for the performance of the assigned duties;  
  • Ability to demonstrate to the Minister that the person has the ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. 
  • Responsible for the professional standards of the cabin crews under his/her authority and in particular: 
  • assuring a current and approved Flight Attendant Manual is in place; 
  • assuring a current and approved flight attendant training program; 
  • the issuance of directives and notices to the flight attendants as required; 
  • the action and distribution of accident, incident, and other occurrence reports; 
  • the processing and action of any cabin crew reports; 
  • The supervision of flight attendants
  • Assuming any responsibilities delegated by the Operations Manager;
  • Training of flight attendants in accordance with the approved training program; 
  • The maintenance of flight attendant training records; 
  • the development of safety features cards; 
  • Provide coaching, direction, and assistance to all direct reports; 
  • Act as a representative on the Health and Safety Committee; 
  • Assume any responsibilities delegated by the VPBTO and Director, Inflight;
  • Responsible for the identification of all regulatory changes that may affect Inflight (e.g., CARS/CASS, FARS, IOSA, ICAO, IATA);
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards related to the area of responsibility, ensuring consistency throughout each respective base; 
  • Development of SMS standards as they relate to Inflight Services; 
  • Implementation of IOSA standards as they relate to Inflight Services.
